Tristan and Tashina Clarridge began learning music at age two, and have spent the past 3 decades immersed in a broad range of rich musical learning environments. Through the freedom of self-directed home-"schooling", they were encouraged to explore what they loved most, eventually leading down a life path of music. Early on they encountered the life changing community of music camps, where they studied from their musical heroes: Darol Anger, Alasdair Fraser, Mark O'Connor, Rushad Eggleston, Bruce Molsky, Natalie MacMaster, and many others, many of whom they've gone on to perform and collaborate with.
Inspired to share and strengthen the interwoven connectedness of music, community, and culture, Tashina and Tristan Clarridge co-founded the Shasta Music Summit, uniting the highest level of musical masterminds with students of all ages, for a series of workshops and all-star concerts exploring musical traditions from around the world, in a holistic community environment. Now in its 13th year, the Shasta Music Summit is revered by many as a powerful musical and social melting pot.
This tour will showcase some of those connections and collaborations that have evolved at Shasta.

Informed by the footsteps of young musical adventurers (and Shasta alumni) such as Sarah Jarosz, Alex Hargreaves, Molly Tuttle and Dominick Leslie, in the music camp tradition, these youngsters are some of the next generation of innovators and tradition bearers in bluegrass, old-time, jazz, and celtic music. Don't miss their debut tour!

Grand National Fiddle Champion Tashina Clarridge has toured with Mark O'Connor, Tony Trischka and Laurie Lewis and performed at Carnegie Hall as a part of MacArthur Fellow/Grammy-winning bassist Edgar Meyer's Young Artists program. Multi-instrumentalist brother Tristan is a 5-time Grand National Fiddle Champion and a pioneering cellist, synthesizing traditional folk influences with rhythmic vocabulary from jazz, rock and pop music, and leading a revolution among adventurous young cellists throughout the country. He has toured the world with bluegrass/nu-folk sensation Crooked Still and Darol Anger's Republic of Strings, as well as Mike Marshall, Bruce Molsky and Cape Breton fiddle phenomenon Natalie MacMaster. Hammer dulcimer wizard Simon Chrisman brings a new approach to an instrument that has previously been thought to have limited range and technique. His inventive virtuosic touch and sophisticated rhythmic sensibilities are redefining his instrument and earning the attention of musicians all over the world. With Tashina's delicate fiddle and Tristan's grounding cello wrapped around Simon's ethereal dulcimer, The Bee Eaters have created a never-before-heard sound in American music. No tricks. No pyrotechnics. Three instrumental voices, united in their musical exploration. As The Boston Globe put it: ""[The Bee Eaters] combine chamber music's finely calibrated arrangements with bluegrass's playful virtuosity and pop music's melodic resourcefulness."

Ben Krakauer is a five-string banjoist, composer, and ethnomusicologist with roots in bluegrass, jazz, and old-time music. He was a founding member of the bluegrass/jazz/Latin/pop string band Old School Freight Train, and toured with mandolinist and Dawg music founder David Grisman. He has conducted ethnographic research in West Bengal, India and Bangladesh since 2010, and has studied and performed Bāul-Fakir music with Basudeb Baul, Amirul Fakir, Mansur Fakir, and others.

"incredibly swinging, grooving, and wildly inventive, but always grounded in the best of tradition." -Matt Glaser, jazz violinist & Artistic Director of the American Roots Music Program at Berklee College of Music

A young artist with a velvety smooth voice, Lela Miatke (16) is a writer of poignant songs, and accompanies her vocals with a lilting bluegrass and oldtime fiddle style. She grew up playing with her father and her sister as Rainy and the Rattlesnakes, and studying with notable musicians such as Laurie Lewis, Darol Anger, John Reischman and at music camps up and down the west coast.
